ODE TO THOSE NIGHTS

This song has become an all time favourite since the time I first heard it. The song portrays waiting. You have let go and have moved on apparently but somehow you yourself are going back to that last hug, to that parting of fingers where theirs wanted to move on but yours wanted to hold back. While their wish came true, yours remained as a wish and wait is to make that wish come true.

The feeling is obscure because it’s the first time your mind and heart are so close yet so apart and that is why you can’t let go the off the hang of it. The worst part being the memories just creeping in at anytime of the day, disobeying the time. It might be all of sudden during a busy afternoon, or a windy evening, or watching couple having paanipuri, or while walking across a coffee shop, it can be any damn thing at any given time. Well sometimes you have to make your mind win because that is for the best, because some things are better suited for the night.

The nights are the most scary in such times. When the world is silenced, when everyone has resorted back to their safe places you are unsafe, because the night exaggerates the subsided feelings of the day, it takes you back to the first meet at the library where both of you took the same book to read, to your first coffee together, the first movie, the first holding hands, the promises of forever the beautiful memories, when suddenly the distance crawled in and then cut to the last touch of the fingers, the reality check where the promises are incomplete and urging to be fulfilled.

You know the reality, you know they are long gone, you know that maybe their nights are a sorted unlike yours but yet you crave to be heard again, you crave to be a part of their current photo albums, you crave to be held again because the heart is as usual stubborn
